The Italian D. Barbero's whole roasted pistachios are of the prestigious Bronte variety ("Pistacchio Verde di Bronte"), which grows on volcanic soil in Sicily near Mount Etna. The fiery growing medium gives pistachios their characteristic taste. The nuts also have a PDO certificate of origin, which guarantees authenticity.
Description
Bronte pistachios are traditionally used in many different sweets and desserts in Italy and especially in Sicily. Pistachios are also used to flavor salty dishes, such as pistachio pesto, mortadella sausage and other cold cuts.
