Greek grape syrup is a natural sweetener that Greek grandmothers used to use to sweeten their baked goods in an effort to avoid giving sugar to their grandchildren. Try it with yoghurt or vanilla ice cream, or for a caramelised topping on barbecue food. Or use as part of your vinaigrette.
Description
Oleosophy grape syrup is made by hand using the traditional method of boiling the grapes until the water has evaporated, leaving only the grapes' natural sugar. This syrup, which is even caramel-like, is rich in minerals and iron and is a healthy alternative to white sugar.
The syrup is made from the Greek Corinthian variety of dark grapes. Only a limited quantity is produced each year.
